How do I refill my tank/pod

It’s no surprise that an e-cigarette relies on e-liquid to operate effectively, making it essential to know how to fill your tank properly. While filling a tank or pod is straightforward, there are some important steps to consider for an optimal vaping experience.

Start by closing off the airflow to prevent any leakage while you fill the tank. Next, access the tank by opening the fill valve or unscrewing the necessary components. Carefully squeeze or drip the e-liquid into the tank until it is almost full, but be sure to leave a small space for air. This air gap helps reduce the chance of leaks and promotes better e-liquid circulation within the tank.

How do I stop my tank/pod from leaking?

Leaking is a common concern among many new vapers, but it’s a problem that can be easily addressed. Generally, leakage is not due to a manufacturer’s oversight and can be quickly remedied by the user.

Check Your Airflow: First, ensure that your airflow is always closed when filling your tank to prevent leaks. When using the tank, keep the airflow open just enough to allow for comfortable vaping without requiring overly forceful inhales. Inhaling too hard can draw more e-liquid onto the coil, potentially causing leakage.

Tank Orientation: Always keep your tank upright, as vape tanks are not designed to be stored on their sides. If left on their sides for extended periods, e-liquid may seep out of the airflow holes.

Inspect O-Rings: Next, disassemble your tank and inspect the O-rings. Worn or damaged O-rings can compromise the air seal of the tank, leading to leaks. Fortunately, many tanks come with spare O-rings, and manufacturers typically offer replacements at a low cost.

Proper Inhaling Technique: Also, consider your inhaling technique. Forceful inhaling can pull excess e-juice into the coil, resulting in leaks. A proper inhale should feel like taking a gentle breath through your e-cigarette, which should be fairly effortless.

Additional Tips: If these fixes don’t resolve your leaking issue, try checking the seal and removing any excess e-juice from the chimney. Additionally, avoid overfilling your tank, as this can also lead to leakage.

How do I change my coil?

The coil is truly the heart of every vape or e-cigarette, acting as the primary component that vaporizes e-liquid. However, since coils are consumable items, they need to be replaced periodically.

Changing Your Coil: Fortunately, replacing your coil is a straightforward process that can be completed in just a few minutes. While the exact steps may vary slightly depending on your tank’s design, the overall process is fairly consistent across all popular vape tanks:

  1. Invert the Tank: Begin by turning the tank upside down so the drip tip is pointed toward the ground.
  2. Unscrew the Base: Remove the base of the tank and then unscrew the old coil from the base.
  3. Prepare the New Coil: Take the new coil out of its packaging.
  4. Prime the Coil: Drip 1-3 drops of e-liquid onto the visible cotton areas of the new coil. This helps prime the coil for use.
  5. Install the New Coil: Screw the new coil onto the base of the tank, then reassemble the tank.
  6. Saturation Period: Allow the device to sit for 5-10 minutes to ensure the coil becomes fully saturated with e-liquid. This helps prevent dry hits and prolongs the coil’s lifespan.

Quick Saturation Tip: If you’re in a hurry, you can speed up the saturation process by taking several gentle inhales through your tank without pressing the fire button. This will help force the e-liquid onto the coil more quickly.

How do I know when to change my coil?

The coil is one of the most essential components of your e-cigarette or vaporizer. However, it's also a consumable item that needs to be replaced periodically. Knowing when to replace your coil is crucial for every vaper, as it can help save both your device and your taste buds from unpleasant experiences. Here are some common signs that your coil might need replacing:

  • Burnt or “off” taste
  • Leaking or excessive spitback
  • Dark or discolored coil
  • Significant drop in vapor production

These are all common indicators that it's time to replace your coil, but the most telling sign is the dreaded "dry hit." If you’ve been using a coil for some time and suddenly experience the taste of burnt cotton and metal, it’s a clear indication that it’s time for a new coil. Using a worn-out coil not only leaves a bad taste in your mouth but can also introduce harmful chemicals into your body as you inhale burnt cotton and metal.

How do I stop my tank/pod from spitting?

Spitting is a common issue for many vapers, but it's something that can be easily avoided by making a few adjustments in how you prepare and use your device.

First, be careful not to over-prime your coil. When installing a fresh coil, only drip 1-3 drops of e-liquid onto it. Over-priming is the leading cause of spitback and can be easily avoided by ensuring your coil isn’t flooded or retaining excess e-juice.

If possible, try increasing the power on your device. You might not be vaporizing the e-liquid quickly enough, which allows it to pool on the coil. Adjusting the power can help mitigate this issue.

Additionally, consider reducing the airflow on your device. A wide-open airflow can pull excess e-juice onto the coil, leading to spitting. By adjusting the airflow, you can minimize the amount of unnecessary e-liquid that makes its way onto the coil and wick.

Other changes you might consider include using a thicker e-juice, pulsing the fire button, trying a different drip tip, and regularly cleaning the chimney. These small adjustments can significantly enhance your vaping experience and reduce the occurrence of spitback.

Why does my vape taste burnt?

If you've been vaping for a while, you might have noticed a decline in the flavor of your vape. First off, don’t be alarmed; this is a completely normal part of the vaping experience. However, a burnt or unpleasant taste can indicate the overall health of your coil and suggest that it’s time for a replacement.

Before you replace your coil, consider the power level you’re using (this applies if you have a variable wattage mod). A burnt taste is often due to a dry wick, and running your coil at higher power settings can dry the wick faster, preventing it from absorbing enough e-liquid. Always set your mod’s power within the recommended wattage range, which is typically printed on the coil or the coil packaging.

If reducing the power doesn’t resolve the issue, or if that option isn’t available, you should replace the coil. When installing a new coil, make sure to prime it properly to avoid a dry hit during your first few inhales.

It's also important to note that certain e-liquids, especially sweeter ones, can cause coils to "burn" out faster. Additionally, consider the PG/VG ratios of your e-liquid. High VG e-liquids are not ideal for pod systems and other restrictive tanks, as they can lead to burning, leaking, and spitback.
